Historic Rock-Cut Cellars

Through many centuries, the citizens of Nuremberg have built vaults and corridors into the bright red sandstone below their city. In all those years, the cellars were primarily used for the ripening and storage of beer – mostly the city's famous red beer.

The Middle Age Prison Dungeons

The dungeon prisons are located in the cellar vaults beneath Nuremberg Town Hall and are a unique facility from the Middle Ages in Germany. Since the 14th century, they have been used for pre-trial detention and for the detention of prisoners until sentences are carried out.

Museum Tucher Mansion

The Tucher Mansion, built between 1533 and 1544, vividly recreates the world of Nuremberg's sixteenth-century merchant families. The exhibits were once the property of this patrician family, and some were among the home's original furnishings.
